Another year gone by...
Yes, another year really has gone by, and we've just had the Festival Sanctus to prove it. It was a brilliant year, with some amazing missions, fun D-Weekends, an awesome RED Weekend and good old Festival Sanctus all playing a part in our- and hopefully your- fun! But this time of year also means saying goodbye to those people who have worked with Sion Youth Ministry and been such important parts of our work and life as a community.

And so, we need to say goodbye to some amazing people, without whom our lives this year wouldn't have been quite so fun!
So a huge good bye and thank you to:
Nick Miller, Araba Adjaye, Emiliy McGranaghan, Pavla Petraskova, Clare Walsh, and - one of our longest serving team members, having worked for Sion Youth Ministry for 7 years - Gemma Wildsmith.

Snow and Ketchup at D-Weekend North...
That time of year had once again come when we found ourselves piling into the van on a chilly winter's morning to begin the long journey north to the wonders of Savio House for D-Weekend North. A whole year since we were last there, and clearly they'd missed us so much that we arrived to find the Barn newly decorated!!

Well, for a number of reasons our numbers were few, but that didn't stop the fun at D-Weekend! With the theme of "Where is your God?", we looked at where we find God in our lives and how we share his love with others. The obligatory and infamous Savio Surprise and trek up to White Nancy (where we were greeted by the first of many snow flakes) were much enjoyed by all, and we can't wait to be back together in the summer for more fun and laughter. So if you're a northern bod in school years 7-9, why not join us for the next one? You can
get more information and even book online already!

Celebrate Bristol
Well, we've just had a GREAT weekend down in Bristol working alongside Sion Community's Primary Team running the Primary School Streams at Celebrate Bristol... The Son Beams and Sparklers were amazing fun to be with, and we all enjoyed the action songs, crafts, prayer and our Night of Light Party... and celebrating Greg's birthday on Saturday!

The weekend was brilliant, and we're all excited about Celebrate Ilfracombe next Easter, where we'll be working with Cross Purposes stream again... see you there? (if you're in Year 7-8, that is!)

Stop The Traffik
Today, we celebrate 200 years since the abolition of slavery. Despite this, slavery still exists in many forms today. The Stop the Traffik campaign focuses on human trafficking, and is using this year to campaign for the end to all forms of slavery. There are events going on all over the country, and it's a great way to get involved and help to promote the dignity of the human person that we all have through being children of God.

Happy New Year!
676520_fireworksWe hope you all had a great time on New Years Eve. Here at Sion we had our annual Big Oasis at our HQ in Brentwood. Somewhere between 70 and 100 people joined us for the evening. We prayed, we praised, we celebrated Mass and we partyed into the early morning! In fact, as midnight struck, we were offering our prayers for the New Year to God.

So, it's now 2007, and we're getting ready for another Community Gathering, where we all get together to have some training and prayer in preparation for the term ahead of us!

Virtual Vigil 2!
For those of you who were around for VV (and for those of you who missed out!), we've very excited to announce that, after some diary wrangling, we will be running VV2 in February! Keep an eye on our Myspace for new details!

Summer Camp 2006
Well, our last post as a Cross Purposes team 05/06...(whimper) but the hilarity will continue muchly next year!

Summer camp was amazing, many people saying the best ever! Hope those of you who went really got a lot out of it, we certainly did. We'd love all the summer campers to join the forum! Come on and join in the fun! And remember that even after the camp buzz has ended God is still there with you! It would be great to hear about how you guys are after camp, things that you've been up to, how you're finding prayer etc...

We have put up what pictures we have. We would love you to add to them but only send us pictures with people over 18 - sorry. Check out our gallery here.

So a farewell from many of the team this year, thank you for being so amazing, keep spreading the word about how great God is, and keep journeying with Him - it's well worth it!!

God Bless! xxx

D-Weekends - We have come to worship Him!
This was the theme of the D-Weekend we had in October in the south and the one we've just got back from in the North. They were the biggest D-Weekends ever! We had an absolutely fantastic weekend with loads of young people from all over the north of England - Bradford, Sheffield, Doncaster, Manchester and of course the Wirral were all well represented.

As you may have seen from the forum - there was a bit of a prank war - involving lots of water, hiding people's belongings and a huge pillow fight! We also had some great prayer times and looked at what it meant to join together as community to worship God and how our whole lives should be lived as worship to God - praying at the bus stop, offering to do the washing up or simply smiling at someone!

There was also plenty of Nutball (James and Dom couldn't come up with a better game after all!), long walks in the beautiful countryside and gorgeous food from our wonderful cook Cath. I don't know about you but I am sooooooooo looking forward to the next one!

For more info on the next D-Weekends - check out our events page where you can download flyers for the ones happening in June.
