God created the world out of love, which means he
created you and me out of love too. So that
means God loves you.
However, the Bible tells us, that we were tempted to stop loving God. We gave into that temptation and broke our friendship with God. This is sometimes called sin. |

God, desperate for the intimacy we used to share with him, had only one way left to unite us with him again. He sent his Son, Jesus, born of the virgin, Mary – so Jesus is fully God, fully human. Jesus lived an ordinary life until the age of 30. When he was 30 he became a travelling preacher with a group of disciples or followers. He performed miracles, healed many people and called for people to live according to two main principles. "Love God, love others". |
| Jesus was so true to following God that he
challenged the religious authorities of the time - so
much so that they had him arrested and put to
death. He died a horrible death, crucified on a
cross. The death he suffered was such that he
took upon himself the burden of sin. This means that
all the times that anyone has gone against God's will
and all the times anyone ever will he experienced all
the guilt, shame and separation of those sins. He
did this so that we don't have to. He did this so
that we no longer have a barrier between us and
God. The original love and intimacy can be
restored. (If you read the last chapters of the
four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John you'll get a
fuller picture).

The death was not the end. On the third day he rose from the dead – back to life. He showed us that death was not the end, that there was an eternal life after death, and that this could be shared with God in heaven. A few days later he ascended to heaven and sent his Holy Spirit to be with us in all things. To be part of our very essence so that we can never be separated from God again. |
| Which leaves us with a choice to make. Do we want to be like Jesus and live our lives according to God's will, in intimacy and unity with God or do we want to choose another way and reject God's love? There are consequences to each choice but God gave us free will – it's our choice. | ![]() |
