Introduction to Mission
A Cross Purposes mission is a time for a school community to revisit it’s mission as a Catholic School, to have the Gospel proclaimed in a radical and accessible way to both staff and pupils, and to explore new ways of nurturing faith within the school context. It is also a time of establishing stronger links with the feeder parishes of the School, and enabling pupils who want to return to a parish, to make that journey.
Cross Purposes has been working with secondary schools for 14 years and so very experienced at working in a school context. The team has delivered around 12 - 15 missions a year, which means we've done this over 150 times. There is a lot of organisation and preparation that goes into a mission but we are confident it will be an awesome experience for your whole school community.

Cross PurposesIntroducing Cross Purposes. Cross Purposes will normally consist of 5-7 members, a mixture of experienced members and young people engaged in peer ministry who have received appropriate training. The team's role is to deliver the mission that is right for your school. Your mission co-ordinators will work closely with the team to prepare for your mission.Cross Purposes use drama, sign language, mime, dance, testimony, video and music to present the Gospel in a relevant and effective way and also specialise in group work with staff and pupils. Preparing for MissionIntroducing Matt who helps with the pre-mission process. He will work with your school to facilitate the school’s preparation for the mission week. One of the main aims of this preparation period is to ensure both staff and pupils are equipped and empowered to fully participate in the week itself, and to lead the school forward after the mission. |
